Before you see anyone, you complete a short structured intake covering your symptoms, health history, previous investigations and treatment, and what matters most to you now. Your care starts informed rather than from a blank page.

We work out what is actually needed.

Your clinical information helps clarify the question and the most useful next step — without assuming you need a particular test, clinician or pathway.

Specialist imaging, where it adds value.

When imaging is clinically appropriate, specialist pelvic imaging is performed with the clinical question and relevant history in mind, so the examination is focused on the information needed for the next decision.

The pieces are brought together.

Where appropriate, your key history, goals and relevant findings are brought together in an Elira Care Summary, instead of leaving you to join the dots between appointments.

A clearer next step.

You and your clinicians receive a clear summary of what has been found, what may still be uncertain, and the appropriate options for what happens next. That may mean returning to your usual GP or specialist, seeing an Elira clinician, or moving to targeted specialist or allied-health care where needed.

This model of care is being designed under the clinical leadership of Elira’s co-founder, an Associate Professor and Principal Research Fellow whose research focuses on endometriosis and pelvic pain care.

Pelvic and gynaecological care is often spread across separate appointments, scans and specialists. Each may provide an important part of the answer, but patients are often left carrying the whole story between them.

We will not promise a certain diagnosis, and we will not recommend tests or care you do not need. When something is uncertain, we will say so.

At Elira, the imaging assessment is guided by the clinical question and relevant history, so the scan is focused on the information that may change the next decision.

No scan can detect every form of endometriosis, and some disease may not be visible on imaging. We will explain clearly what the scan shows, what it does not show, and how the findings fit with the wider clinical picture.

Elira was founded on the Gold Coast by Dr Juliana Oliveira and Jason Curtis.

Dr Juliana Oliveira is Elira’s Co-founder and Clinical Director. She is an Associate Professor at Griffith University and Principal Research Fellow at Gold Coast University Hospital, where she leads research into endometriosis and pelvic pain care. At Elira she leads the design of the care model: how a woman’s symptoms, history, goals and clinical findings are brought together to guide more individualised care.

Dr Juliana Oliveira is Elira’s Co-founder and Clinical Director.
